Not a silent retreat, but tranquility as you may like it

Our Quiet Weeks give you loads of unprogrammed space to use as you wish. But within the welcoming context of community meals, shared times in chapel and interesting company. They are not silent retreats, but certain times and places are kept talk-free. Quiet Weeks are gently led by experienced guides – on this occasion we are delighted to welcome back author and retreat leader Tess Ward. She writes:

“It is strange to be here. The mystery never leaves you alone.  Behind your image, below your words, above your thoughts, the silence of another world waits. A world lives within you. No one else can bring you news of this inner world.” — John O’Donohue from "Anam Cara"

We will be thinking about emptiness. When we feel empty it can be frightening and sad or it can be the ground of everything and the place of freedom.  We will explore this in short morning and evening gatherings and as we share silence and quiet together in the beautiful space of Othona,  in the company of the sea, and as the leaves begin to let go.

Single rooms (non-sharing) assumed for this event (unless you book with a partner).
