As you know, Othona isn't just a place but a loose-knit community of people. Those of us who live and work here would be absolutely lost without many others who give their time and effort in all sorts of ways!
One such way is practical volunteering. We're experimenting this year with a new pattern for this kind of help. We've begun scheduling Local Volunteers Days (LVD) for which you can sign up online, using Eventbrite. There will usually be places for just 6 volunteers per LVD.
Does this seem bureacratic? Why not just turn up? Well, knowing who is coming - and how many - makes it feasible for our small team really to prepare well so that you can feel your time's been well spent.
The days run from 10.00 to 4.00 and usually there'll be a choice of jobs (indoor and outdoor) to get stuck into. We can all enjoy a good lunch together. There'll be time to socialise and also to gather in chapel (as we do each day).
The first few LVDs (18 Mar, 31 Mar, 15 Apr, 28 Apr, 21 May, 24 June, 19 July) are open to book now.
Click this Eventbrite link to learn more or to book. (If you don't feel comfortable using Eventbrite just ring the office on 01308 897 130.)
You'll be equally welcome, whether you come regularly or once in a long while.
