Space is available on this event!

Graham Fawcett - writer, broadcaster, translator and renowned poetry expert - returns to Othona offering us poetry and reflection to resonate with some of our deepest needs and longings. Each session will focus on a profound spiritual quality: Poetry and Strength, Poetry and Hope, Poetry and Discovery, and Poetry and Silence.
Graham’s wide and deep love of poetry, in English and in translation, means we are introduced to a treasury of thought and feeling related to each theme. We hear and see the poems, but we also have space in which to share our own perceptions.
For those of us who are stimulated to our own creative writing, there will be time and encouragement for this too. Or simply time to gather and share our stories round the log fire.
His approach to poetic themes is one that Graham developed on previous retreats at Othona; we might view this weekend as a bit of a ‘greatest hits’ album in which many new poems will appear too.
Graham says: "We are living in unusual times. Never has a small community like Othona seemed more able to fill the gap in our lives and massage what we have. The four themes of this weekend belong together like a quartet of instruments: hope against the odds, strength to manage our lives and ourselves, discovery of new ways and possibilities, silence as a place of renewal and energy."
