A Place to be Real Together

>> Fun Science 2018 July

This family-friendly week will help open our eyes to the wonderful ways our world works. Not only that – we’ll be able to try out some exciting hands-on experiments. Satnam Jhalley and Alex Hough are teachers who love science so much that they keep sharing it when they’re on holiday. And Satnam runs popular Science Parties in his spare time.

What kind of things will they be offering us this week? Rockets, volcanoes, lemon batteries, slime, magnets, wormeries (I don’t have to touch them, do I?)… these are just some of the great ideas. Although the science sessions are designed for children, some parental support is welcome and at times necessary.

Satnam and Alex’s sessions are mainly concentrated into the mornings. They will leave you plenty of time for the beach and all the other pleasures of a relaxing holiday in community at Othona.

The framework for all this creativity is the Othona Community day, with its anchor points of lovingly prepared meals, simple shared jobs where everyone can contribute and quiet reflective times in chapel.

Othona is “a place to be real together” where we can keep the virtual world of phones and internet to a minimum and give ourselves more space for genuine meeting and understanding.
