A Place to be Real Together

Jo Harp - Artist 2020

I have always been keen on illustrative styles of art, where forms are reduced down from the complexity of reality, into simpler lines and colours. I traditionally work in pen and ink, but have recently migrated to digital art to give me a greater control of ‘clean’ colours and shapes.

The vast majority of my work uses the natural divisions of colour, texture, light and shade or muscle structure to inform my line making. Patterns and colour then flesh out the image.

I have also been working on a series of climate change inspired pieces, experimenting with realism that is in some way distorted to create a narrative.
