A Place to be Real Together

Marion Dunlop House - extra accommodation for Othona events

For certain popular events we are grateful to our friends in the Fellowship of Meditation that some visitors can stay in Dorchester at their 8-bedroom retreat centre Marion Dunlop House (MDH). How this works:

  • At least one member of the Othona team will also be staying at MDH and will greet you there on arrival.
  • She or he will drive participants to and from Othona for the first evening and subsequent days' activities. (Depending on numbers at MDH, one other visitor may need to use their car too, ideally offering lifts.)
  • Each day at MDH will begin with a shared breakfast and optional short Seedtime (morning prayer) before travelling to Othona.

To decide if this option will suit you, please consider:

  • MDH is less than 10 minutes walk from Dorchester South and Dorchester West railway stations. There is free parking space at the house, generally enough for all visitors. Other parking in Dorchester is charged 8.00am to 6.00pm.
  • MDH bedrooms are mostly more spacious than at Othona, but as at Othona there are no en-suite facilities. MDH has no ground floor bedrooms.
  • You can see much more about the house, its well-tended garden and its facilities here.
  • Having travelled to Othona from MDH you will not have your own room to retreat to during the day, but we offer sitting room, library and studio where you can relax.

When applying to book, please make clear in the "Questions or Comments" section if:

  1. You are only willing to stay at Othona
  2. You'd prefer Othona but are open to staying at MDH
  3. You would actively prefer to be at MDH
