A Place to be Real Together

>> Mindfulness & Creative Writing

This is a workshop for those who love to write or would love to write creatively. No experience is necessary – just the willingness to relax see where your pencil leads you.

Writing can be a powerful form of contemplation, a form of paying attention to ourselves and to the world. It can focus us, centre us, slow us down and help us to observe ourselves and our surroundings more clearly. In turn, making a more contemplative space in our life can strengthen our writing in many ways.

This is a peaceful, nurturing day of contemplative exercises that will help you give full attention to your writing. We are not focussing primarily on the finished product but on the process of writing itself – writing as discovery and spiritual practice.

Our aim will be to slow down our minds and rest from hurrying, observe the details of the world around us and translate our observations into words, bringing forth our authentic selves.

Joanna Smith is an English lecturer, published author and film writer who has been teaching creative writing in Dorset and Devon since 2008. www.blackdogwriting.co.uk
