JOHN BELL is a Resource Worker with The Iona Community, who lectures, preaches and conducts seminars across the denominations.
He is a hymn writer, author and occasional broadcaster, but retains a primary passion for congregational song.
John is based in Glasgow and works with his colleagues in the areas of music, worship and spirituality.
The WILD GOOSE RESOURCE GROUP was begun over 30 years ago by John L. Bell and the late Graham Maule, who died in December 2019.
Based in Glasgow and working as a semi-autonomous project of the Iona Community, members of the Group are active in churches, schools, colleges, at festivals, denominational conferences, training events and with voluntary organisations concerned with social and international justice.
THE IONA COMMUNITY is an ecumenical Christian community of men and women from different walks of life and Church traditions engaged together, and with people of goodwill across the world, in acting, reflecting and praying for justice, peace and the integrity of creation. Members share a common discipline of Daily prayer and reading the Bible, mutual accountability for use of time and money, meeting together and action for justice and peace.
The Iona Community was founded in Govan and Iona in 1938 by George MacLeod, minister, visionary and prophetic witness for peace. Today, they are about 300 Members, mostly in Britain, with 1450 Associate Members and 1250 Friends worldwide. The Iona Community welcomes people from all walks of life at its centres on the islands of Iona and Mull. For further information - www.iona.org.uk
Norman Motley, who founded THE OTHONA COMMUNITY in 1946, knew and was greatly influenced by George MacLeod.
