Nickie Fidgin and Nigel Thomas return with their hand-painted canvas labyrinth that almost covers our chapel floor. A thing of beauty but also a tool for the kind of 'reflection' that is not just thinking but a whole body-and-soul experience.
This time Nickie brings a story she has known and loved from her youth, but with depths to explore for all of us now. Forget the guys with the gold, frankincense and myrrh; what became of the other one who set out with them? (Wise women equally welcome on this journey, by the way!)
We’ll have the chance to walk the labyrinth with differing intentions during the weekend, sometimes by candlelight. And we can enter deeply into what journeys and gifts may mean for each of us as the new year gets under way.
On top of all this there’ll be glorious seasonal music and making a traditional 'Kings Cake'. But no visits to New Year Sales!! Doesn’t that sound good?
Nickie is a skilled facilitator of labyrinth experiences who has brought them to contexts as varied as a primary school and Salisbury Cathedral. She is also a singing teacher, so we can look forward to making music together as an extra delight.
Her husband Nigel, an Anglican priest and skilled storyteller, has lived in community, been chaplain to immigration detainees and a support worker at a ‘care farm’.
