John Bell is a world-renowned resource worker with the Iona Community's Wild Goose group. He has devoted much of his ministry to composing new hymns and songs (many with the late Graham Maule) and introducing Christian music from around the world to these islands.
This is his first visit to the Othona Community. So a rare opportunity to encounter hymns and songs with the man who composed or arranged many of them. We don't just sing for the sake of it, but also for what we find the songs trying to say, prompting us to think and feel.
The two sessions - morning and afternoon - will focus on songs of the world church and songs from the Iona Community. You don't need to read music or have a perfect voice (what is that anyway?)
The charge for this day includes a light lunch.
This day is nested within a longer retreat John will be leading at Othona.
