Are you a busy person longing to rest and recharge? Quiet Weeks at Othona are not silent retreats. But they have agreed times and places of silence within them.
This week, led by Othona warden Tony Jaques, includes those oases of quiet. At other times their counterpoint will be richly soulful music and meaningful conversation. These can conduct us to a deeper, healthier place – as individuals and as the unique community we form in our few days together.
You can also expect simple movement sessions each day, a luxurious ‘sound bath’ one afternoon, and a special outing – all of these optional.
Each day is framed by contemplative times in the beautiful house chapel and conviviality around the dining table and log fire.
Tony was first invited to be an Othona warden by the community’s founder, but he didn’t take up the invitation until almost twenty years later! In between times he weathered some wilderness years and then was a broadcaster with BBC Radio 4. As a lover of words and song, he knows how they can most powerfully arise out of silence and reflection.
