The poet RS Thomas reminds us that life “is not hurrying on to a receding future, nor hankering after an imagined past. It is the turning aside like Moses to the miracle of the lit bush…”. When we do make time to step aside from the rush, worries and pressures of life, we create space for ourselves and for God’s peace and strength to renew us.
This quiet week is an invitation to relax on the beautiful Dorset coast and to seek a sense of inner peace, the treasure within each of us. Each day will include led meditations and mindful activities in community that enable us to connect with the present moment – (this may include walks and sea swimming so come prepared!)
Catherine Bond and Jane Pearse return to Othona to lead this quiet week. They are both trained as spiritual directors and have led retreats, quiet days and a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Jane enjoys poetry, walking, the natural world and Celtic spirituality. Catherine has run a retreat centre, is trained in Ignatian spirituality, painting, teaches meditation and enjoys creating community.
They were the first couple to receive a blessing in an Anglican church using the Prayers of Love and Faith. They look forward to being with you.
To avoid misunderstanding, Othona quiet weeks are not silent retreats. But they will usually include times of day when we maintain silence together - no conversation - and one space within the house where you can be sure of that same quality of quiet at all times.
