This event is unusual for Othona.

• You can book to arrive and depart on dates that suit you (between Thursday afternoon and Wednesday morning)

• You only pay as much as you choose - we have no set charges for this event!

Growing Community is what we can all do together at Othona - in a down-to-earth unselfconscious way. (Did it take a pandemic to remind us how much we need this?) 

So come and join us for a few days. You'll find time to unwind and relax. And space to explore our wonderful surroundings.

There'll be daily Seedtime and Harvest reflections in the chapel, and the option of a movie evening in the Four Seasons Studio.

But Growing Community is about getting involved, not just chilling out. Our community project together will be opening Othona up, welcoming visitors on Saturday and Sunday afternoons as part of Dorset Greener Homes weekend.

You can expect tasty healthy meals - perhaps you'll help pick the fruit or water the salad leaves. And to feed our minds we welcome a guest speaker on Saturday.

Until 2021 John Smith was chair of Hostage International, the charity co-founded by Terry Waite to support the families of hostages and former hostages. As guest speaker on Saturday evening he'll have quite a story to tell, to broaden our understanding of the impact of kidnap - on the person who is seized and on people close to them.

What else? Games, a walk, songs round the firepit... anything that grows community - what do you suggest?
